Bloyer Well and Pump FAQs

HOW DO YOU ESTIMATE THE COST OF THE WELL?

We research the geology for a specific area and base our well depth on that. Whether it’s a bedrock well or a screened sand and gravel well, we can determine what we might encounter while drilling so we can be accurate with our estimated price. The type of pumping system for your water needs can be included in that price also.

WHERE SHOULD THE WELL BE LOCATED?

The well site will be dictated primarily from the location of the septic field or any other possible contamination sources. In Wisconsin this separation distance will be 25’ from the tank and 50’ from the drain field. In Illinois the distance is 50-75’ from the tank and 75-100’ from the drain field. The well should also be put in an area that will be easy to get back on with a truck for future servicing.

WHAT KIND OF CASING WILL BE USED?

Depending on the location and state you can use PVC or steel casing. The use of PVC casing is preferred due to the fact that it never rust or pits from corrosion. Bloyer Well is skilled at using both types of casing and installing PVC well casing without breakage. The use of PVC can save hundreds of dollars on the cost of your new well.

WHAT KIND OF PUMP WILL I NEED?

There are several types of pumps on the market and Bloyer Well uses Sta-Rite, Red Jacket, Gould’s, and Grundfos. We help you determine what your water usage will be and size the pump system accordingly. We also install constant pressure systems for people who like the “city like” water pressure. The C.P. systems work great for homes with large peak water demands and sprinkler systems.

HOW LONG WILL THE SYSTEM LAST?

In general, you should see a life expectancy of 50+ years for the well, 10+ years for the pump, and 10-15 years for the tank. Water quality and usage play a role in the life cycle of the system with some wells lasting 100+ years and pumps lasting 30+ years.

HOW LONG IS THE WARRANTY ON THE NEW SYSTEM?

Most pumps have a 3 year warranty and the tanks have a 5 year warranty. If Bloyer Well installs a complete system, you will receive a 5 year warranty on both the pump and tank. Due to geological conditions, the new well comes with a 1 year warranty.

WHAT WILL THE WATER QUALITY OF THE NEW WELL BE?

With differing geology dependent on location, you never really know what the quality or quantity of water may be, but with our years of experience, we are capable of finding good water in most areas. Unfortunately there are areas where the water contains different types of iron or sulfur. In this case we would have local water conditioning company work with you to treat your water safely and efficiently.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY WATER TESTED?

Most water contaminates are tasteless and do not smell. So it is recommended that you have your well sampled annually. Most people take for granted that if the water smells and taste good then there isn’t a problem, but that is not always the case. Also, if you have any flooding in your area or have neighbors who have water quality issues, you should consider having your water tested.
